ST. FRANCIS IS BACK-TO-BACK WINTER LEAGUE CHAMPS
March 10th, 2008 - Traverse City St. Francis won the 2007-2008 Winter Hitting League on Sunday, defeating Central Lake #1 in the semi-finals, 43-29, and Onekema #1 in the Championship Game, 37-23. Onekema #1 advanced with a 19-13 victory over Team Plattski.
St. Francis team member Justin Wojtkowiak took home League MVP honors for the second straight year (Wotjkowiak is pictured above, on left, with teammate Joel Lints). The League All-Star team consisted of Hunter Slade (Onekema #1), Ryan Crawley (Central Lake #1), and Ray Platts (Team Plattski).

HIGH SCHOOL COMBINE ANNOUNCED FOR 6/26/08
February 8th, 2008 - The Academy has teamed up with Five Tool Prospects to host the High School Baseball Combine, which will be held at Wuerfel Park on Thursday, June 26th.
Players who attend the Combine will go through events that are typical at a professional tryout such as being timed in the 60-yard dash and home-to-first, throwing for accuracy and velocity from their position, and taking batting practice to measure hitting ability and power. Both position players and pitchers will be clocked on the Stalker radar gun, which is used by the vast majority of college and professional teams. Every participant will receive a personal evaluation by a member of the Beach Bums coaching staff and the results will be posted on the Five Tool Prospects website for every coach in the country to access. For an additional fee, the Academy will send e-mails to specific college coaches containing your professional evaluation or provide the participant with a DVD recording of their performance at the Combine.
Pitchers will be scheduled to a time block to throw for 10 minutes in the bullpen and to six hitters in a simulated game.
Date: June 26th, 2008
Time: 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. for position players, pitchers will be scheduled separately
Prices: $100 for Position Players, $50 for Pitchers, or $125 for both
Participants: Maximum of 20 Position Players and 12 Pitchers
Evaluators: Beach Bums' Field Manager Jon Cahill, Pitching Coach John Sexton, and Hitting Coach Jason Wuerfel
Extras: Prices for college contacts and DVDs are TBD.

ACADEMY ANNOUNCES SUMMER YOUTH CLINICS
January 29th, 2008 - The Beach Bums Baseball Academy is pleased to announce it will host five Summer Youth Clinics in 2008. Each of the five dates corresponds with a Beach Bums home game, and each participant who registers for that day's clinic will also receive four free tickets to the Beach Bums game that night.
The Academy will also be sponsoring each of the five Beach Bums home games, giving out Academy logo baseballs to the first 500 fans through the gates. Single game tickets for the Beach Bums don't go on sale until April, but you can ensure yourself tickets for these five dates by registering your child for a youth clinic.
Dates: 6/24, 7/22, 7/29, 8/12, 8/19
Time: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. each day
Ages: 12 and under
Cost: $65 for one day, $300 for all five
Participants: Limited to 50 per day
Instructors: Beach Bums players and coaches

June 24th, 2007 - Several local players to train at the Beach Bums Baseball Academy have been honored by the Traverse City Record Eagle in their annual All-Region Team announced on June 24th.
